Biography

Johnny Boehlefeld has performed with ensembles throughout the United States and abroad. He has been a featured soloist both on international television broadcasts and at national conventions. His operatic repertoire of 20 roles in 4 languages expands the entire history of the genre from roles in Montiverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (1643) to Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree (2000).

A flexible performer, Johnny has sung both comic roles like Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and dramatic roles like Frank Maurrant in Weill’s Street Scene. He has taken on characters in well know works such as Marcello in Puccini’s La bohème and largely unknown works like Slook in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio.

A passionate concert singer, Johnny has performed works by Haydn, Handel, Vaughan Williams, and Britten, among others. He has also appeared as a soloist at more than 800 church services for a variety of denominations.

Originally from Durand, IL, Johnny attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL, where, as a student of Myron Myers, he received a Performer’s Certificate in 2012. He recently moved to Montgomery, AL, where he lives with his wife, Kathryn.
